The 993 followed the venerable 964 and was produced from 1994 to 1998. This was the next iteration of the famed 911 from Porsche and it entered the U.S. as a quantum leap forward, especially from an aesthetic viewpoint. “Rounded” front fenders, 928-esque receded headlights, and a generally “softer” look gave the 993 a more modern appearance as Porsche’s final air-cooled iteration.
The cars’ displacement was the same as the 964’s at 3.6 liters, but output was increased in 1994 to 270hp from 247. Then, in 1996, horsepower rose again to 282. Gains were primarily the result of better intake flow combined with more advanced programing. In 1996, the variable valve timing system was also introduced to assist with high-end power as well as mid-range torque gains.
The 993 boasted new rear suspension geometry which helped to minimize bump steer and provide an even more planted ride while reducing the ever-present tail happy nature of the rear-engined 911.
#1395 is a 100% original 1997 Carrera 2. It has 68,000 completely documented miles and has been exceptionally maintained. The car’s second owner was extremely fastidious and generally pre-empted all necessary services long before they were due. Within the past 10,500 miles, the car has had: FULL top end rebuild ($9,916.27) at 57,531 miles just as a preventative measure! Replaced clutch at 57,531 miles as well! Steering rack replaced only due to small leak. Replaced ALL shocks/struts ($3,610.56) at 58,031 miles as a preventative measure!…just to make things beyond 100%!!
The car rides, shifts, and pulls like a new car and its wonderful combination of factory optionsincluding: Ocean Blue Metallic paint ($1,036); Cashmere Porsche floor mats ($110); Torque Limited Slip with ABD ($1,253); 17” Wheels w/Cup Design Rims ($1,444); Full power left seat ($564); and Rim Caps with Porsche Crest ($166) make it a fabulous combination of performance and aesthetics. Even in 1997, it’s total MSRP was a lofty $69,088.
This C2 comes with all of its original equipment including the original 17” rims (18” rims shown on the car are also included), original steering wheel (Momo Prototypo pictured and also included), custom Porsche cover, original tools, original books, two sets of keys, all records, and the original window sticker.
