Merit Partners is pleased to offer this very special 1977 Porsche 911 IROC RSR Outlaw, presented in stunning Mexico Blue over Black Leather and Corduroy interior.
Specifically built for Roger Penske’s IROC (International Race of Champions) series, the 911 RSR 3.0 (commonly called IROC RSR) was the result of professional driver Mark Donohue’s explanation to Penske, that if he wanted a “strong, fast, reliable and consistent racing car,” the only reasonable choice was a Porsche. It was an inspired concept; putting twelve of the world’s premier race drivers into identical racecars and letting the flag fall. The IROC cars sported the narrower RS fenders, which allowed 9” front and 11” rear wheels with regular bolt-on rims rather than a full race setup. Carrera graphics were replaced by Porsche logos, and each car was painted a bright color for easier driver identification and better TV viewing. With the decline in interest in prototype racing and the 1974 demise of the CanAm series, suddenly production-based cars such as the RSR were elevated to headline status.
Starting as a 1977 Porsche 911S, this example has received a full IROC makeover and outlaw street build. Tremendous efforts and a no expenses spared approach to the build has yielded a high performing RSR that can still be enjoyed on the street. In addition to the performance modifications, several modern amenities were included in the build to enhance the driving experience. Those included an updated tachometer and hidden Bluetooth radio and speakers to retain the classic appearance. The extensive attention to detail by the body shop that performed the conversion can be seen over the entire vehicle in the form of flawless fit and finish to even the most discerning eye. Included with the vehicle are keys and extensive records from the RSR build. Needing nothing, this fantastic IROC RSR is now available
